Schools Partnership Programme

COURSE OVERVIEW

Stockport Community Foundation works closely with primary schools within the Stockport, Tameside and High Peak in with a clear and strategic aim to support healthy and active lifestyles, as well as delivering key messages to create positive futures for children.

A vision for our Schools Partnership Programme is to engage with primary school children in our community and give them the opportunity to take part in physical sporting activities throughout the academic year. This is delivered by our team of qualified sports coaches. We liaise with each individual school in order to deliver specific requirements and set out their full academic year of fun, challenge, inspiring sports lessons.

The coaching team plans a programme of sporting activities in line with the National Curriculum and covers a range of sports and skills to get children active and enjoying their lessons each week. Each primary school has the same members of the coaching team each week in order to develop good continuity between the School and members of the Community Foundation. All members of the team are very keen on making sure each child achieves the core aims during each session and demonstrates a great deal of differentiation for each child. We provide each school with a complete syllabus of each session with all sessions explained both in a written format and visual way. Due to the strong relationship the coaches build with each school, they also are asked on a number of occasions to set up and run extra curriculum activities such as After School Sessions and Lunch Time Sessions to further enhance the impact of the professional and powerful role models members of staff.

The Schools Partnership Programme ensures every professional relationship we develop is individual to each child and the schools as a whole. We are extremely proud of this programme we are delivering in the local community and are working with over 15 schools at present. The foundation also delivers a six week intervention programme on behalf of Stockport Youth Offending Service, where the pupils receive education on local issues facing the community and a weekly sports session delivered by our sport coaches. The foundation are proud to assist such an important and successful project and one we are very pleased of the impact this makes on children, teachers in the community.

In additional to coaching briefly outlined about, we also offer further extensions to each primary school such as:

  • Sports Competitions
  • Healthy Eating Assemblies
  • Primary School Fund Raising Support
  • Staff CPD
  • Work Experience
