A leading, long established, independent charity serving the wider community across the borough of Stockport and Greater Manchester and the Counties of Cheshire and Derbyshire, the Community Foundation Team are dedicated to improving lives. 

Our fantastic team work tirelessly behind-the-scenes with the Community Foundation’s dedicated Board of Directors and Trustees on the wide range of programmes delivered by the charity to change and impact lives. Teamwork and collaboration with outstanding partners and stakeholders, is at the heart of our success. 

Stockport Community Foundation has taken the lead in transforming lives and improving the confidence, health, wellbeing and life skills of thousands of children, young people and adults of all abilities. Our pioneering inclusive work with physical disabilities, mental health, Parkinsons, dementia, veterans support and isolated and vulnerable groups makes a real difference to the self esteem and life chances of the Communities we serve.

What is the full title of the ‘Community Foundation’?

Our registered name at the Charity Commission and Companies House is Stockport County Community Sports and Education Foundation.

What status does the Charity operate under?

The Foundation is a registered charity, number 1125117.

Who governs the Foundation?

The Foundation is made up of a Board of Trustees, of the charity.

How long has the Charity existed?

Since 1992, under the banner of ‘Football in the Community’, the national programme covering all 92 Professional Football Clubs, which sadly ceased to exist in November 2007.

How is the Charity funded?

We are self-funded, and have our own Constitution, Management Structure, Bank Account, Solicitors and  Accountants. We raise our funds through School Contracts, After School Sessions, Sports Courses, and various other community activities, funded alongside specific partners including Youth Offending Services, PIE and Housing Associations.

We can also access various local and national funding streams ranging from the Asda Foundation through to the Big Lottery Fund. We are also indebted to our patrons and sponsors for their continued generosity.

We carry out work in conjunction with various partners including High Peak Housing, Stockport Homes, Equity Foundation, JJ Housing, Stockport MBC, Stockport NHS, Life Leisure, Stockport YOS, Pure Innovations, Disability Stockport and various local charities and community groups.

We carry out grassroots football and multisports coaching and community-based activities in Stockport, High Peak and Tameside.
